The Coding Initiative Partners with Spring ISD to Bring Exclusive Tech Resources and Mentorship to Students

The Coding Initiative has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Spring Independent School District, launching a groundbreaking collaboration that will give Spring ISD students unique access to a comprehensive range of coding resources, workshops, and personalized mentorship. This partnership marks an important milestone as the nonprofit, founded by Spring ISD alumni, expands its commitment to creating tech opportunities in high schools.
Founded by recent Spring ISD graduates now attending top universities like Cornell, Carnegie Mellon, UT Austin, and the University of Houston, The Coding Initiative started as a high school coding club—The Wunsche Coding Initiative—at Carl Wunsche Sr. High School. What started as a small club has now evolved into a nonprofit with the mission to provide coding resources, mentorship, and professional growth opportunities for students nationwide.
What This Partnership Brings to Spring ISD Students
Through this MOU, Spring ISD students gain access to The Coding Initiative’s full suite of offerings:
- Coding Workshops: Weekly virtual sessions on Microsoft Teams, where students can dive into coding and tech skills with structured guidance.
- One-on-One Mentorship: Scholars can meet with college mentors, getting direct support as they explore coding and future opportunities in tech.
- Exclusive Resources: Access to a curated online resources page, featuring scholarships, tech programs, academic guidance, and easy-to-use scheduling tools for connecting with mentors.
As The Coding Initiative’s first district-level partnership, this MOU builds on the nonprofit’s founding mission: To empower and educate students in coding and technology, promoting community engagement, collaborative learning, and leadership in skills in technology.
Returning to Spring ISD to bring these resources to the next generation feels like coming full circle for me as a former student. I’m proud to support my home district and empower students where my own journey began. - Anderson Ramirez, Board President of The Coding Initiative and Wunsche High School 24' salutatorian
A First Step in a Broader Mission
